Editorial standards and ownership

The short answerThe Beaumont Index is owned by Ronnie Dog Media Comm. V., a company registered in Belgium (company number 0693.988.181), and run by its founder and editor, Chris Beaumont. We publish only numbers we have produced or checked ourselves, report claims about people and clubs only when two independent sources back them, and correct mistakes in the open.

Ownership and funding

The Beaumont Index is owned by Ronnie Dog Media Comm. V., a company registered in Belgium (company number 0693.988.181), and run by its founder and editor, Chris Beaumont, who is responsible for everything we publish. Registered address: Oude Vismijn 1, 9160 Lokeren, Belgium.

Everything on the site is free to read. We take no money from clubs, agents, players or betting companies in exchange for coverage, and no one outside the editorial team sees a piece before it is published.

Independence

Our ratings, rankings and verdicts are our own. No club, agent or commercial partner can buy a place in a ranking, change a number or approve what we write. The Beaumont Adjustment, the only manual change we ever make to a rating, is small, used rarely and always shown with its reason on the club's page.

Numbers

We never invent figures. Every number in a piece comes from our own models or our own checks of the data, and it is checked again before publication. Where we are unsure, we say so, show a range or leave the number out. We do not publish betting odds or match probabilities.

Transfers and news: the two-source rule

We report a claim about a player, coach or club, such as a transfer, an injury or a sacking, only when at least two independent, credible sources support it. A single report, or several reports that all trace back to one origin, is not enough. We name players we think could step up a level, and explain why using our own analysis. We never publish fees we cannot verify, or private recruitment documents.

Analysis and opinion

Analysis pieces say what the evidence shows and where it stops. Opinion is labelled as opinion. Headlines must be supported by the piece underneath them.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it, add a dated note to the page and record it on our corrections page. Weekly ratings updates are updates, not corrections. To report an error, use our contact form; we aim to reply within two working days.
