Who controls your data
The controller of personal data collected through beaumontindex.com is Ronnie Dog Media Comm. V., Oude Vismijn 1, 9160 Lokeren, Belgium (company number 0693.988.181, VAT BE0693988181). We are established in Belgium, so this policy follows the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, "GDPR") and the Belgian Act of 30 July 2018 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data. We have not appointed a data protection officer, as the law does not require one for our activities.
How to contact us about your data
For any question or request about your personal data, use our contact form or write to Ronnie Dog Media Comm. V., Oude Vismijn 1, 9160 Lokeren, Belgium. Please say that your message concerns privacy.
What we collect
We collect only what you give us. If you subscribe to the newsletter, we store your email address. If you use the contact form, we store your name, email address and message. You do not need an account to read the site, and we do not ask for any other personal data.
Like any website, our hosting provider automatically processes technical data needed to deliver pages to you, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, in short-lived server logs. We do not use these logs to identify or profile you.
Why we use it (purposes and legal basis)
- Sending the newsletter you signed up for. Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in each email or through the contact form.
- Replying to your messages, corrections and tips. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering readers and keeping our journalism accurate (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Running and protecting the site, including blocking spam and abuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure, working website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or make automated decisions about you.
How long we keep it
- Newsletter email addresses: for as long as you stay subscribed. When you unsubscribe, we delete your address within 30 days, except where we must keep a minimal record that you opted out so we do not email you again.
- Contact-form messages: up to 2 years after our last exchange with you, then deleted, unless we need them longer to deal with a legal claim.
- Form submissions held by our hosting provider: deleted from the hosting platform within 90 days of receipt, once copied where needed.
- Technical server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a short period, normally no more than 30 days.
Who receives it (processors)
We use a small number of service providers who process data only on our instructions under data processing agreements:
- Netlify, Inc. hosts the website and receives newsletter sign-ups and contact-form submissions.
- Amazon Web Services (Amazon Simple Email Service) will send the newsletter once sending begins.
We may also disclose data where the law requires it, for example to a court or public authority.
Transfers outside the EEA
Netlify is based in the United States, and both providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where this happens, the transfer is protected by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and, where the provider is certified, by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework adequacy decision (Articles 45 and 46 GDPR). You can ask us for more information about these safeguards.
Cookies and analytics
This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics, tracking or advertising tools. A dark-mode preference is saved in your browser's local storage only if you choose it; it never leaves your device and you can clear it at any time in your browser. Fonts are served from this site, not from third parties. Links to our profiles on X and Bluesky are plain links: those platforms receive data only if you click through, under their own privacy policies.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data deleted;
- restrict how we use your data;
- object to processing based on our legitimate interests;
- receive data you gave us in a portable format;
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting processing carried out before.
To use any of these rights, contact us as described above. We will reply within one month, and may ask you to confirm your identity first. Exercising your rights is free.
If you think we have not handled your data properly, you can lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données), Rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels, Belgium, www.dataprotectionauthority.be. You can also complain to the authority in the EU country where you live or work.
Children
The site is meant for a general audience and is not aimed at children. Do not subscribe to the newsletter or send us personal data if you are under 13, the age of digital consent in Belgium. If we learn that we hold such data, we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services or the law change. We will publish the new version on this page with a new "last updated" date and, if the change is significant, tell newsletter subscribers by email.
